I'll start this off with my nomination, "The Avengers", that stylistic '60's series. Diana Rigg as Emma Peel was a fantasy extrordinaire during my teenage years.

There was the TV movie Look What's Happened To Rosemary's Baby starring none other than Patty Duke. Hideous!

Hands down, that godaweful t.v. movie remake of 'The Shining'! YUCK!!
That little infant lipped kid who played Danny was scarier than anything they could possibly encounter at the Overlook hotel!

Gus Van Sant's remake of Psycho. What the hell was he thinking?

Leave it to Beaver. What was so funny about transplanting a 1950s family into the 1990s? What was funny about anything at all in this picture?

I have to go with John's pick.

That damn TV version of The Shining is bar none that absolute worst film in the entire history of the motion picture. Nothing else comes close!

I might add that not only does the TV version of The Shining suck, but it's a good aid for those suffering from insomnia. This one will knock ya right out.

The Out-of-Towners - The original with Jack Lemmon and the forever quirky Sandy Dennis was terrific.
Unfortunately, only the remake with Steve Martin is available on DVD and shown of TV.

I don't think we can rightly call THE SHINING miniseries a "remake", but it's easily one of the alltime lamest minis I've seen. Just pathetic in every respect (an excellent candidate for an MST3K drubbing).

Hard to believe "The Vanishing" hasn't yet been mentioned... so, uh, how about "The Vanishing"?

Although I've yet to see it (and probably won't until cable/rental), but it seems that "Vanilla Sky" is getting a rather poor reception. And I did like "Open Your Eyes", though it's certainly no masterpiece itself.

Since Psycho has already been mentioned, I'll have to put in my vote for The Thomas Crowne Affair and now that I think of it, even worse The Getaway boy did they screw that movie up. How much better can you get than Sally Struthers being called a "dumb broad"?

I never watched Ths Shining TV thing, so my vote would go for Van Zant's Psycho. And also a mention of John Russo's excreble 30th Anniversary Night of the Living Dead project.
A new entry is most likely on the way. I shudder at the thought of Adam Sandler in Mr. Deeds

    Worst remakes:

Psycho (the remake is more like a parody of the original)

Frankenstein (Sure Brannagh is a great adaptor for Shakespeare, but you can't top a James Whale picture especially without Karloff!)

Hollow Man (Don't watch this piece of crap. Watch the original 1933 The Invisible Man instead. It's just an over-violent and stupid remake (Hollow Man).

Rat Race (Why not make a straight remake with cameos? At least it was in 2.35:1 panavision...)

    BAD sequels:

Any of the Disney sequels. They all suck eggs.

Psycho II, III, IV (Don't mess with Hitchcock films. Sequels are NOT needed!)

Here's another vote for Gus Van Sant's remake of Psycho. Ugh.
