The Toy (1982)- Horrible child actor-turned-failed porn actor Scott Schwartz plays a character named Master Bates, whose father (Jackie Gleason) hires a black man (Richard Pryor) as the boy's personal slave. Comedy Central used to run this every five minutes.
While I agree with a number of Scott's "Rock-Star B-movie Vanity Piece" entries, there is one film that has no business being in that list...
Paul Schrader's Light of Day is not a B-Movie Vanity Piece, and Joan Jett acquits herself quite well in this film. ( She holds her own with Gena Rowlands in several of the film's sequences. ) Pardon the nit-picking, but Light of Day is an fine dramatic film with a number of solid performances.

Walter,
You were absolutely correct to take exception at my glaring oversight. While not one of Schrader's best movies, Light of Day is CERTAINLY much better than the movies I lumped it in with. My mindset was on 'rock stars' and I overlooked the obvious with that selection.
Kind of on the same subject: I was checking the cable listings, and I saw something called Forever Mine. After a quick trip to the IMDb, I learned that the familiar-sounding title was a Paul Schrader movie! (His name on a film means I will most certainly watch it, ever since I discovered Light Sleeper late one night on the Encore Channel.) This one stars Joseph Fiennes, Ray Liotta and Gretchen Mol. I recorded it! Anyone seen this one?
Scott,
I remember when Forever Mine was released on DVD, I nearly made a blind purchase on the basis of Schrader's involvement and the cast of the film. However, reviews of the film seemed 'mixed' and I passed on this title. I'd really be curious to hear your thoughts ( or those of other HTF'ers ) on this film.
( Thanks for gracefully accepting my nit-picking. )
- Walter.
Well, the terrible modern skew is part of the problem. People simply aren't familiar with truly bad films of by-gone days.
Almost all of them are from 1980 with only 3 pre-'70s films, 2 of which are Wood films.
But worst of all would be putting Titanic on the list over Bride of the Monster.
Nobody, and I mean nobody, thinks Bride of the Monster is better than Titanic. If for no other reason that a cool ship sinking and some boobs you have to prefer Titanic over some of the worst writing and production ever.
Batman and Robin has to be one of the worse films I have ever seen...too bad it didn't have Josh Hartnett in it...his atrocious acting woudl have served the film well...
"Knights Of The Round Table"... rushed into production so MGM could get on the Cinemascope bandwagon, Robert Taylor gives a performance as Lancelot that would embarass a high school drama teacher, and even Miklos Rozsa's music is mediocre.
The inclusion of "Natural Born Killers" immediately invalidates the entire list for me. Not only is NBK one of the best films of the 90's, I rank it as one of the best films of all time and easily my favorite Oliver Stone Film. Speaking of which, I haven't watched this for over a year and am in dire need of another viewing.
I think I might set out to see if the rest of the films on this list are masterpieces also. If they want bad, where are "Independence Day" & "Maverick"?
Everyone has different opinions on worst films. The Gods Must Be Crazy is definitely one of the worst films I've ever seen and maybe the worst directed too. I'm glad to see that others share my opinion.
Other films which I have no problem seeing on this list as these are definitely some of the worst films I've ever seen:
Attack of the Killer Tomatoes - yes I know it's a parody, but it was extremely unfunny
Red Dawn
Cheech & Chong from the 80's
Porky's trilogy
Armageddon
Independence Day
But then there are films I wouldn't put on the list like:
Titanic - did not like the film but it's not a stinker
Texas Cahinsaw Massacre
Heaven's Gate
Blair Witch Project
Natural Born Killers
All in all, not a bad list but I think they should have called it "The Worst Films of the Past 20 Years" and deleted the 3 older films as obviously the list is skewed towards newer films.
Well, although some of the ones I list below are not GREAT movies, by any stretch of the imagination, I hardly think any of them should be seriously on a list of the WORST 100 MOVIES. (And I know some may disagree with some of these, but hey, to each his own)
Ace Ventura: When Nature Calls Armageddon Batman & Robin Battlefield Earth The Beverly Hillbillies Caddyshack II (except for Akyroyd, one of his worst performances, horrible Bill Murray impersonation) Cobra Godzilla Independence Day Judge Dredd Look Who's Talking sequels Lost In Space Mars Attacks! The Postman (I agree w/Steve_Tk and agreat perf. by Will Patton) Red Dawn Rocky V ST:TMP SW:TPM Titanic Waterworld Wild Wild West Xanadu
Now for ones that were missed that should have been on here, top contendor, THE EVIL DEAD TRILOGY!
OK, first off: Welcome to the HTF, Dean!
Regarding the movie you just mentioned: You've seen it?!?!?
I've been dying to see this one ever since I saw the theatrical posters way back in 1980! Was it ever released on VHS? I'm sure you're right that it's awful, but I've always been curious to check it out.
