One of my wifes co-workers came to dinner a few weeks back. He's from Russia, although he's been here for about ten years. He's a big movie fan, and was quite excited to see my collection. We got to talking about Planet of the Apes and he mentioned that he never saw the original. I told him that he had to forget about the remake as I pulled out my box set of the original movies. Right there on the front of the box set, as well as the first movie is a pic of the destroyed Statue of Liberty!
I instantly put the thing back on the shelf and hoped he didn't notice, as I suggested that he borrow it sometime.
This is like the cover of The Sixth Sense announcing that Bruce Willis is a ghost or Darth Vader is Luke's pappy in Empire Strikes Back!
I know that this is a classic movie and I guess the reasoning is that everyone knows the ending. But ya know what? Not everyone does!
In the meantime I have replaced my cover with the one on DVD Cover Art

D'OH! I can't win! The DVD booklet inside and the DVD label itself all have the Statue of Liberty shot!
    Grrrr, Arrgghh!

This was discussed when the discs came out in the first place, and yes, it's a lame spoiler cover! [IMG]

When I saw the title of this thread and before opening it, I thought, "No matter what he picks, it can't be worse than POTA." It couldn't have been any worse if MGM had designed it!

Do what I do, use an empty CD case to just give him the DVD.

I try not to loan out my boxes, especially things like the signed X-Men box or boxes like Moulin Rouge.

Hey guys read the back of the Phantom Menace VHS, (I don't know if its the same one on DVD or not)Episode one introduces Anakin Skywalker, a boy withspecial powers, unaware that the journey he is begining will transform him into the evil Darth Vader

that right there would ruin the expereince of Empire strikes back if I saw this one first

I think that most people would not even think about what's on the cover unless they have aleady seen the film or been told that it is a major spoiler.

What would be even worse would be to have the cover for the Soylent Green DVD (which I hope arrives some time this year) have a picture of an anguished Charlton Heston, and the quote:

    "Soylent Green is people!"

I mention that just because I was trying to tell someone how much I enjoyed the movie, even though I had heard that quote before. This guy was truly disappointed because he had never heard of the movie, and now figured there was no reason to watch it.

Wow, that's nuts. Imagine if the cover to Titanic told you that the boat sinks.

The Third Man's cover shows that Harry Lime is still alive, but this is another, "even if you haven't seen the movie, you know the ending" type movies

    Hi folks,

Someone else already brought this up in another thread similar to this one, but I have to agree with him that the cover of the "Rudy" SE gives away the ending of the movie.

The cover shows Rudy being carried off the field on the shoulders of his teammates in what is obviously a football stadium. I guess all those hard days of work and practice paid off, he got to play in a game!!

A picture on the inside of the booklet of Dario Argento's Opera reveals the identity of the killer. Luckily I did not look in there before playing the film, so it was still a surprise for me.

There's another horrible horrible one I see in Hollywood Video all the time.

Dr Strangelove - the cover shows

the famous "Atomic Bomb Ride" right on the cover!

I mean, most people know its coming, but who designed this cover, Roger "Ruin-the-Ending" Ebert? :p)

Doesn't the front cover of The Spanish Prisoner depict the final twist?
