    Hi all,

I dug an old pair of Mitsubishi towers (bought them around '95) out of the attic this evening to test run them in 2-channel stereo.

The right speaker has a rather disturbing "scratchy" sound that appears to be coming from the upper of its 2 eight-inch woofers. The black foam around the speaker edges has completely dried and chipped away over the years on the woofers.. Is this a major problem? Should I replace the woofer in question? Or perhaps all 4?

Any input will be greatly appreciated!

No reason to replace the woofer as you can simply replace the foam surrounds. See this recent thread.
