About three years ago DC Comics ran a comics series called "Wonder Woman '77"
Patty Jenkins shared the first photo of Kristin Wiig from the movie:
Natasha Rothwell, who I liked very much in Love, Simon earlier this year, is joining the cast:
Patty Jenkins released an image of Pedro Pascal in-character today:
^ Maxwell Lord?
I love it.
The movie has been delayed, and will be returning to the early June slot that the original film used -- in 2020.
I first noticed it on WB's Facebook page:
Deadline confirming: https://deadline.com/2018/10/wonder-woman-1984-flies-to-summer-2020-1202487260/
Via her Facebook page, Gal Gadot says:
It was originally scheduled for Nov. 2019?
The new date makes more sense. I'd be willing to bet Warner would get a bigger box office in the summer.
This does not make me happy.
Yeah, I was expecting them to slot it in June 2020 all along, so I was surprised when they originally set it elsewhere. This is the slot where the original was so successful, so obviously they want to replicate that. Why mess with a formula that works? And Wonder Woman competed with Guardians 2 during its run. Since Disney was kind enough to nuke the third one, WB won't even have that to compete with next time.
Should the thread title be updated to reflect the release date change?
Also, the other studios' slates are starting to look pretty light for 2020. Bummed that we have to wait, though.
Please Mister Moderator(s) change the thread title - seeing the old date is breaking my heart
I'm not a moderator, but I fixed it.
Also, it's worth noting that the Joker movie is on the first weekend of October 2019. Had Wonder Woman maintained the November date, that would have been two DC films in a period of about 30 days. I'm not sure that would have been very smart.
Probably not, but I doubt Wonder Woman 1984 is the film that would have suffered.
Honestly, I'm glad the release date got moved to summer 2020. The Wonder Woman property just feels like it should be a summer tentpole event anyway.
Which is exactly why it is the one that was taken out to go elsewhere.
Sony just claimed the former Wonder Woman 1984 slot of November 1, 2019 for the Charlie's Angels reboot.
It's crazy how far in advance things are dated now and nothing ever stays vacant for very long. Wonder Woman hasn't even been off of that date for a day yet and already it's claimed by what Sony hopes will be a replacement major release. (I'm not saying that Charlie's Angels will open anywhere close to what WW84 would have done there, but still.)
That really is crazy. Welcome to Hollywood in the 21st Century, I guess.
They could have combined them:
"Joker in Paradise" – A lighthearted comedy about a giggling, serial mass murderer; the island he is marooned upon following a three-hour (getaway) cruise; and the hundreds of Amazon women who would like nothing better than his head on a stick.
The ship set ground on the shore of this "invisible" Greek isle
With Joker Man,
Harley Quinn too,
Five no-name henchmen, bereft of life,
A Mason jar,
Full of Joker venom,
To help everyone smile!
