Good on Kendrick for starring and directing. The reviews have been generally positive. I just need to get in the headspace for the material. I watched the first 10 minutes but didn't need the content running through my head before bed.

I finished it tonight and thought it an effective dramatization of the serial killer's exploits without feeling exploitive of the victims' suffering. It does make a difference for these types of films to be centered on the women's experience, namely having to navigate a world where there is such a huge spectrum of possible harm. It makes me think of Patty Jenkins's Monster and how different a film that would have been if it didn't have the a female director at the helm.

I'm not usually one to watch the Kelly Clarkson show, but I did find their conversation about the movie quite interesting given their respective experiences as women and women in show business.
