A few years ago I bought a speaker cabinet. I thought it was old, but when I opened it up it had a very new look to it...a custom job, I think (good thing I only spent two bucks on it!) . Inside was a pewter/copper-looking speaker. It looks good, but has anyone ever head of Wolverine speakers in Buchanan Michigan? Fly by night place? Out of business? How old do you think this is?

Did a search on Yahoo just to see...
they are made for EV (Electro-Voice), normally associated with instrument, or P.A. applications, but you should be able to get some specs on them to see if they will work for music or HT.
My guess is they were built as party speakers by a novice.

That is the old E-V Wolverine ... and from the looks of it, I would say mid-60's vintage.

Electro-Voice is still thriving, though they only make pro stuff now, and the drivers for the Klipsch Heritage series...

Fire that speaker up... you may be surprised
