Supposedly a multiplayer test for the new wolfenstein game is going to be released this Saturday. Check gamespot for links.

I can't wait.... but it looks and sounds exactly like the Day of Defeat mod for Half-Life.
I'm curious to see what the reaction will be.

I don't think it's out yet. Neither Blue or sCary have is on their sites yet, and they're usually the first...

All I can say about this demo is that it is very LAGGy. They need to crunch the code a little more on this one.

So it isn't just me. I thought my connection had gone to hell.
This map at least is pretty much Day of Deafeat with new weapons and some changes. Not that this is bad thing, I love Day of Deafeat, I'm just surprised to see how similar it is.

It is a very nice map, better than the DoD one IMO. But I wish I could actually play this map. Maybe it will be better when more people have the demo, still a huge demand just to get it.

Woohoo, a DoD clone

But seriously though, this game has promise. They just need to do a hell of a lot of code crunching! If you noticed, when you are inside the narrow buildings, there is next to no lag, but as soon as you get outside it is almost unplayable.
All in all though, I'm a little dissapointed. Not because the game wont end up being good, but because I'm not getting a new, traditional style Wolfenstein game.
Ahh, I think I should go and find a copy of the original game that I loved so much when it first came out.

Don't worry. That only represents the multiplayer portion of the game. I think you can look forward to some of the following scenes in single-player:

Oh, so there is a single player mode then? That's great news! My friend told me it was only multiplayer when we were at his house playing the game.
I am a much more happy person then I was earlier today :)

The test is only one level of multiplayer. The full game will have single player, with whacked out monsters and whatnot.

Help!
I can't get a server list to load in the demo! I'm on a cable modem, so I'm using a router, which I'm assuming is part of the reason behind the problem. I'm also using the Zone Alarm firewall, although I have given Wolfnestein permission to access the net.
Any idea what the problem is? I've had a sucession of goofy configuration problems related to home networking since setting up the router, and this is the latest.

I get almost zero lag. I only play on low ping servers also. As far as getting a list of servers through a firewall, something has to be adjusted on your firewall. I don't know what but a friend of mine had the same problem with his linux box firewall. The info is out on the web somewhere. This didn't have to be done with Q3, but for Wolf it does.
What really annoys me is that people still play this as a deathmatch game. Its a lot more fun when the team cooperates to win the objective instead of blindly running around shooting things.
I look forward to the full version. At least single player should be fun.

Just got done playing the demo and ruling the battlefield all by myself, as my teammates were total dumbasses and kept on leaving the Axis team to go with the allies. Runs real nice on my 800Mhz Athlon/GeFORCE 2 MX/256MB RAM. Now if the single player is just as fun.

I didn't have any troubles getting server lists, but many people are.
The latest version of Gamespy Arcade supports the test, and many people are using it as a work around for now. It's better than the in game browser anyway.

No lag issues here. The game just didn't do it for me though. Every time I (as the Axis) took control of one of the fixed cannons I died for no reason. I didn't understand that.
The 40 second wait after dying (sometimes less) is annoying too. As often as I die I wound up spending a good portion of my playing time waiting.
Any idea how come some players have the gatling gun or flame thrower? I didn't find the player set-up very intuitive so maybe I missed something.

I think the reason that you died on the fixed guns is due to sniper activity. I watched through the eyes of a sniper and they go for those guns. You should be able to select your gun in the lower right hand corner of the menu before you "accept" to join the game.

The Lietenant and Soldier can choose different primary weapons which listed at the bottom of the selection box.
Link Removed is a list of all the different weapons in the test.
