Why do two different studios release the same film?
I'm not sure of the details, but several years back, a lot of MGM films (almost the whole library, I think; at least the ones Turner owned) were turned over to Warner. So, a lot of MGM's classic films have been getting DVD releases from Warner (Oz, Ben-Hur, Dr. Zhivago, 2001, and many others). Kind of ironic, huh?
Of course, this also means that Casablanca has come full circle: released theatrically by Warners, on video from CBS/Fox (and its various incarnations), then MGM/UA, now Warner. Sorry, didn't mean to get off topic.
