Interesting question from a first-time Tivo owner....

If I keep my TIVO off all the time, will it
automatically power ON for scheduled recordings?

Or....

Does the TIVO need to be powered on all the time
to record programming?

Your Tivo is never off if it is plugged into a power outlet. The standby mode just turns off the video outputs. The rest of the Tivo is working just as hard as if you were watching TV. I even have mine on a UPS so it won't power down during power outages. And you will not miss a recording if the Tivo is in standby.

Robert,

Thanks for the reply. That's very
interesting.

I found it odd that I never found a
POWER button on the Tivo remote.

It wasn't until my recent purchase of
the Harmony all-in-one-remote that I had
the option of turning it off.....

...or at least I thought it was turned off.

Good to hear that it just goes into standby
mode.
