When I look at pics of many of the very high-end setups, I notice that many of them have their grils removed. Is this to provide clearer sound? Is this change only noticeable at high/low volumes? I can take my grills off, as long as we have no guests in the house[IMG] Also, should Iremove the grill of my Velodyen CT-120 sub?

I believe most people remove them to show off the drivers in the picture. Think of it as a spread in Playboy. [IMG]

Some speakers are meant to be used with the grills on (i think paradigm), but the difference is very slight.
Some speakers have beautiful drivers: B&W, Paradigm, Swans, etc.. and its only natural to want to show them off, if even to yourself [IMG]

I know atleast that Paradigm speakers are designed to work with the grills on to diffuse the sound a little more. But for photos of your system, showing off the pretty drivers is a must. [IMG]

Test it. I took mine off and noticed a difference. Never thought I would...

I too tried my speakers (B&W CDM 7NTs mains) with and without the speaker covers. My wife and I both could tell the difference quite clearly. In my case it was brighter, clearer, sharper sound.

You really need to try your speakers, in place, to know whether it will matter for you and your speakers.
