I just ordered a Samsung 931 because I am gaga about the idea of upconverting my DVD movies to HD. I know a few people have had problems with this model, but the Bravo D1 is over six weeks backordered and I decided to take my chances. I have a Sony KP-57WV700 and haven't heard anyone with this model complaining yet, so I will keep my fingers crossed...

    Good luck!

I saw one of these at the San Francisco home entertainment show. It was hooked up to a Samsung display and the combination looked MOST impressive.

    Good Luck.

I saw one of these DVD players on display at Frys in San Jose. It was hooked to a Samsung 50" DLP. But upon investigation, they had it connected via SVideo. [IMG]

    Have you received your Samsung?

If so, can you give us a review?

Oops! Sorry, I had forgotten I posted this.
I received my 931 Tuesday, and 1080i was nothing but snow. 480p worked fine and 720p was spectacular, but nothing on 1080i. I called Samsung and they said they were aware of the problem and had a software update that should take care of it. They mailed it out to me Thursday and I will report on its effectiveness when I receive it (should be today or tomorrow).
The 720p picture is, as I said, incredible though. Watched Tears of the Sun and Bug's Life on it and was very impressed.

    Thanks for the update Rick.

I'm thinking of getting this DVD, but since I can't find it locally, I'm gonna have to order online. Besides not being able to display 1080i, have you found any other bugs on this unit?

    Thanks again.

No other bugs so far. Works fine except for the 1080i thing.

Where to find these on line? I only found it at crutchfield but was wondering if there was anyplace else. And who makes the other one the first thread was talking about.

How does the 1080i mode look—especially when compared with the 720p mode?

There isn't a LOT of difference between 720p and 1080i---I can most tell the difference when watching brightly-lit scenes with lots of color.
