I'm living with 7 others guys next year in an ol' 2-story Victorian house with several rooms, and I was wondering how and what we need in order to rig that piece up given that there will be about 6-8 pairs of speakers, a few amps/receivers, and 2-stories of partying.

Will we need to buy a multichannel amp? does radioshack have a device as to cater to our needs? Keep in mind that we'll probably need very very long runs of cables to negotiate one source to all ends of the house.

any help and advice would be great

Try looking at www.hometechsolutions.com for starters. www.nilesaudio.com would be another good site. It depends on how sophisticated one wants to get. If you have a receiver with preamp outs you can just get something simple at RS to expand the outputs and hook to multiple amps.
