Has the wireless internet dialups via a cell phone improved lately? If I were to get a USB to cell phone connector, how bad would the connections be. I've done a little bit of research and you're almost limited in bandwidth to something as anemic as 19.2kbps. Has it improved lately or not?

My father has a vacation home in another state and he is paying for phone service both there and at home. Unfortunately, he's in kind of no-man's land as he is not there that often but there enough to make cancelling service or temporarily halting server not really an option. If he was to get a cell phone, he would save money on having to pay monthly land line fees but then he would have to use the cell phone for his 56k dialup service on his PC too.

Last I tried, that option was pretty pathetic. 19.2 would have been acceptable to me. [IMG]

I'm not suer about through a phone but I know here with a dedicated cell modem such as the Sierra Air Card 750 you can get ~56k.
