n00bs like me probably ask you this all the time, but I can't find anything through searching.

My coworker wants a totally wireless living room. The computer network is easy, but he wants to know if complete wireless home theatre speaker sets exist. I tried looking for some with Google, but the only thing I could find was something that I couldn't find for sale anywhere. Not even eBay.

Power cables are OK. I can't imagine there'd be a subwoofer out there that could run off batteries.

Any help you can provide would be great. Thanks.

I highly doubt that such a thing (5.1) exist. Yamaha has some wireless solutions for music, but the speakers around each room are only like 2.0...nothing with 5.1. Also, there's no way (right now) to provide adequate power to the wireless speakers off of batteries.

It doesn't really workt the same way as in the computer world. A central hub can distribute signals to each individual station, but they have to be powered by an outlet. Each individual station is another computer that has the ability to "process" information. However, nothing (that I know) of in the speaker world can do that---at least without being greatly expensive.

Does he have something about wiring the speakers? Wiring can be done to discretely hide any signs of the wires these days. There are many options for doing so.

If anyone finds speakers that can do wireless 5.1 (well), please let me know.

wireless systems look... useful, but i wouldn't vouch for the quality. not seen/heard any from the traditional speaker manufacturers, which would do a lot to start queries on sound quality.
