Wininet.dll, Shlwapi.dll (1 Viewer)

After wininet.dll and shlwapi.dll went missing from my computer, I downloaded them but I don't know where to put them. Where do I put them?

Be Aware: these are VERSION SPECIFIC. If you are running SP2, then the versions you put back -MUST- be from SP2.

Ie, the file version should be:

6.00.2900.2573 (xpsp_sp2_gdr.041130-1729)

And similar if sp1, etc.

Do NOT put an older version in if you are running a newer service pack; as you'll be asking for trouble.

FYI, you're PC should have auto-archived about 4 different versions of this.. you should have found local copies under directories like:

C:WINDOWS$NtUninstallKB867282-IE6SP1-20050127.163319$

If you do a Start-Search-Advanced Search-Search Hidden/System Files (check it) and search for the file, you should turn up the correct version for your OS, or the version just previous that was replaced. Normally safer then just downloading at random
