I *finally* got my "Wings of Desire" disk today and while I'm incredibly glad to finally have it in OAR (1.78:1 anamorphic to boot), one thing that I've noticed is that the blueish tint of all of the angel viewpoint scenes has been replaced with a somewhat blue/yellow but mostly b&w color. Both my VHS tape and TiVO'd copy from IFC back in February have the same tint as did the other copies I've seen in the past. Ebert even mentions this in his "Great Movies" review from a few years ago. Anyone know why this was done ?

The new translation also will take some getting used to, especially in the penultimate scene at the Nick Cave concert. I pretty much knew it by heart and it threw me to have whole phrases be redone.

I think it's a beautful transfer of one one of the most beautiful films ever made. [IMG]

Theatrical prints were always blue-ish, because they were printed on color stock. On my set, the B&W sequences have no tint to them at all.

PS: I want Kings Of The Road on DVD! But who owns the rights? Amazing film.
