The Winds of War will be out on DVD later this year from Paramount
This is a quote from Dan Curtis taken from a
Question & Answer session posted at the MPI Home Video site. Now that both parts of "War and Remembrance" are available it is fabulous news that "Winds of War" will appear. As a precaution, I won't go disposing of my VHS tapes until this set is in my hot little hands! :D :D :D

I sure hope so. I've bought both of the War & Remembrance dvd box sets, but am not going to watch them until after I have Winds of War so I can do it right.

Great news, I've lived with the VHS full frame tapes for many years.

Anyone know if WOW will be anamorphic?????? :emoji_thumbsup:

Since it was a made for television miniseries, 1.33:1 is the OAR and there's no point in anamorphic.

At the end of the behind the scenes documentary on the extras disc of "War and Remembrance" Final Chapter, is a promo for the "Winds of War" DVD set. That's at least two sources. Now if Mr. Blythe would be very kind & generous, we might know for sure.

Also just in from Paramount Home Entertainment is a little sneak peek at more of their spring lineup of new DVD releases. ....and Herman Wouk's The Winds of War. Watch this space for full details to follow shortly....
Just another little pointer. :)

The April press release schedule I received had it listed as 'coming in May' with a list of other titles.

One of my all time favorite productions, too (and I don't watch much TV)

Robert Mitchum rules

I hope the local B&M stores are going to carry this....I'm taking a chance by not pre-ordering.

One of my local Best Buy stores carries the 2 "War and Remembrance" boxes so I figure they will carry Winds.

I received my "Winds of War" shipment today. :D The individual discs are in those super slim keepcases, double damn & triple damnation!!!!!!!!! I guess I'll have to design my own 7 disc keepcase cover as I absolutely Hate those kind of cases.

Is this set the entire series or just half, like War and Rememberance? I didn't see any description at Amazon.com.

Wow. To each their own, I guess. Seeing the series in the slim cases was a pleasant surprise to me when I opened my set.

Now what I hate are those oversized (& overpriced) boxes that MPI released "War & Rememberance" in. Still holding out for a more reasonably priced & packaged reissue.

I Love those Big Fat Alpha type keepcases!!!! I may be the only one on several Discussion Boards who says he likes them, but I continue to see that InetDVD is selling them, so someone is buying them other than me!

I agree that "War and Remembrance" was overpriced!

I vote for the slim cases. It's so nice to have the entire Winds of War in a durable and compact collection that takes up less space than 1/2 of the War & Remberance dvds.

I started watching "Winds of War" yesterday. The first DVD looked somewhat grainy in spots & seemed to not look 100% clean. But the quality is at an acceptable level for me. I enjoyed the featurettes.

I just had to exchange my set at Target since disc 2 had a manufacturing defect that prevented it from playing. Sure am glad I saved the receipt.

Watched disc 1 the other night; DAMN, this is a fine series!
