I have windowsXP pro connected to a network via a router wtih 3 other computers running Win98SE. For the WIn98 computers, when viewing other computers' files and directories its very quick.

But on my XP machine, whenever i go into NETOWRK NEIGHBORHOOD and open up a machine, the window lags for a LONG time before displayin anything. if i try to close it, it says the program is not responding, but if i wait, itll eventaully open up.

I think i remember reading a fix about this, does anybody know about it?

Thanks

If you find it, post back here. I have the exact same problem.

I noticed that if I use DHCP from the router, it takes a long time to get the other PC's to show up...but when I changed all my connected PC's to have assigned IP addresses, they show up immediatley. I am sure there must be a better fix.

A thread at that site suggested turning off the QOS Packet Scheduler option in the newtork connection properties.

You should have like:
Client for Microsoft Networks
File and Print Sharing
QOS Packet Scheduler
TCP/IP

Turn off QOS packet scheduler

Try that.. i just did it, it SEEMS to be working so far... YMMV...
