Hello all,

I have read in this forum and in other forums that XP home does not include support for setting up LAN access. Is the absolute only way to get this function present in XPpro or is there a another (read: cheaper) solution available from a Third party source?

The reason why I ask is that there is a application that I use at work that I need to have installed on my home machine. It requires the ability to see a virtual drive on the work LAN. Our computer guy wants me to possibly revert back to Windows 98 to do this (they don't have the proper Microsoft license to allow me to install Windows 2000 or XP pro on my home machine).

Well, I'm not excited about the possibility of going back to '98. Hence my quandry...

Any suggestions?

Michael.

XP Home will work on a LAN because Microsoft is gung ho about "Home Networking", but if you need to log onto a NT/2000 domain then you're out of luck. They intentionally removed it from XP Home.
