Will XBOX convert 720p to 1080i? (1 Viewer)

I'm new to gaming, but want to experience it in HD and 5.1. I see that there are 720p games out there but unforturately my Toshiba 42H81 only supports 1080i. Am I S.O.L.?

Not necessarily.

XBox will *not* convert 720p to 1080i. But your TV set might (you'll have to check the manual or talk to a CSR) convert 720p to 1080i even if doesn't necessarily "support" it - which may just mean it doesn't natively display 720p.

My Panny 47" TV does *not* convert or support 720p, and when I set my XBox to 720p output all I get is wavy lines across the screen.
