I am getting ready to replace my CD player. I have been thinking about replacing my DVD player(Toshiba 3109) at the same time.

I was thinking about going with a DVD player that will play CD-R's and using the DVD player as my CD player also. This woudl free up some shelf space.

The question I have is can I run a coax cable from the DVD players coax out to the receivers coax in and then run a optical cable from the DVD's opt out to the recievers opt in. Then set the recievers dig inputs to coax=DVD and opt=CD. This way I can just set the reciever(3802) to source CD to us ethe CD player and set the receiver to source DVD for the DVD player.

Thanks

Earle

All of the outputs should be active whether you use them or not. Unles like in the case of the pioneer dv-414. You have to select either component video or S- video. Your wiring scheme should work just fine.
