I'm just wondering if the double layer discs being sold
now will play on my old sony s7000.
I have the S3000, I believe the S7000 was from the same model year.
If you're talking about double layer movies, pretty much all of the new movie releases are double layer and fo me at least they play fine.
If you're talking about double layer backup media DVD-R or DVD+R etc.... I have not been able to play any of those formats on my S3000.
Many DVD players have a hard enough time with single layer DVD-Rs, from what Ive heard the dual layer discs are even harder to read by commercial DVD players, especially name brand ones.
You might have better luck with the super cheap Cyberhome or Apex players that are out there.
I have never had a problem with my 7000 reading any commerical disc.
VCDs no problem either!
I don't use it that often but mine still works better than any cheapo.
The thing is a tank!
