I've begun to here some rumors that the Black Hawk Down DVD that will be released on 6/11 will be movie only, and that the Charles DE Lauzirika 2 disc SE won't released until late this year if not early next year.

Can anyone confirm wether this true or false?

I would say that the 6/11 DVD will be a 2-disc, given Ridley Scotts DVD track record (Gladiator, Hannibal, Alien)

"We'll find out for sure next week"

Does that mean the the official specs for the release will be out next week?

Yea, the spec sheet for the title says that the announce date is either the 26th or 27th (I can't remember exactly).

Yeah, the rumor of two releases of this film on DVD comes from Charlie de Lauzirika, the 2-disc SE producer. In an interview with a website editor around January/February, Charlie said that Columbia was still deciding how to handle the release and that a "movie only" version might be available first.

I suspect if this is the case, it's because Charlie and Columbia want to bring the veterans in for some supplements, can't get the disc done in time for June, and Columbia wants to release something ~ 5-6 months after the theatrical debut.

That said, I hope this turns out to be not true. I want the CdL 2-disc special edition ASAP. I will wait for that no matter what though.

    Regards,

    Dan

Jeremy...it's now March 28th, no announcement. [IMG]
Seriously, I am beginning to wonder if this title might be delayed a bit. A film this big should have an announcement closer to 3 months before street date. While we're still just over 2 months away, which would be acceptable lead time for retailers et al, I just think CTHV is making some decisions right now.
I think the following scenario is happening: The Special Edition is not 100% surely going to be ready for 6/11, but it won't be long after that. So CTHV is just going to delay the Special Edition 1-2 months, rather than release a movie only version followed closely thereafter by the Special Edition (or worse yet, be forced to delay the SE because it will be finished too close to the movie only). That's my guess if this baby isn't announced by next Tuesday...
    Regards,
    Dan

    Dan,
Hopefully, you're right. I would rather see this delayed in order to get all the extras on it instead of two separate editions.
Doesn't something inside of you just tell you this is going to be a reference quality video and audio presentation with great extras? [IMG]

Still nothing official. I'm getting fairly alarmed here. The movie is not in a theater close to me, and the DVD is nowhere in sight. When am I going to be able to watch this again? [IMG]

Is it just me or are some studios waiting longer and longer to release specs about certain titles AFTER releasing the street date?
