noob here.i'm buying the toshiba 50hdx tv.it has a DVI input.

what is it for? i am building a computer,my video card will be the radeon 9700 all in wonder.(not sure if it has DVI out)the reason i am building this computer is to play star wars galaxies online,it is coming out in april.will i use the dvi to play the game on my tv from my computer?

are there dvd players with DVI outs? would i want one with DVI?

i did see that dvi automaticly sets your color, contrast etc. is that a good thing?

The Radeon does have DVI out, quite good too, but not all TV's take computer DVI, so check first. Some high end DVD players have DVI out, which is great because you have no D/A conversions, keeping the picture quality digital, the only problem is that those players are still expensive due to the image quality price premium.

yes that is the model.scott in his response said, not all computer DVI outs are compatble with the DVI inputs on HDTV's.

is the computer DVI from the radeon 9700 compatible with this model? (toshiba HDX5082)

I did not know that was the case.....I thought DVI was much like a S Video Cable---One size fits all.

    I could be wrong.

Anyway........I have posted your question on a computer geek web site........

    Here is the link....

Good luck! (you might need to registar for the Forum)
