    I was just wondering with the Red Curtain Trilogy box set coming up I was wondering if the Romeo + Juliet DVD would get a 16x9 enhanced transfer. If so, it would be my next buy. What do ya'll think the odds of it are?

    Being a Fox release and the DVD itself being a Special Edition I would say the chance of an anamorphic transfer is almost certain.

    Could have sworn I read that this one is getting a redo in 2002. Given the hoopla over Luhrmann's other film on DVD, I think it could be likely.

    Baz is a genius. I loved this film but I hesitant to buy it. So where did ya'll get the 2002 redo info? And if it does get a redo, will it be availible seperate from the box set?

    I have the R2/R4 version of Romeo + Juliet and it has an gorgious anamorphic transfer as well as an extremely agressive DD 5.1 mix (Both close to reference quality). Highy Recommended! I will not buy the SE-version when it arrives because I am very satisfied with the quality of this DVD. I think the movie speaks for itself, so I don't care much for some xtra stuff that I probably never gonna watch anyway.

    It looks like we will be getting a special edition of Romeo & Juliet here in the UK later this year. The tentative date was March 2002 probably to tie in with the release of Moulin Rouge (but so far no official confimation from Fox).
    The BBFC (British Censor) on their website lists a large number of features for a new special edition (each extra needs to get a rating in the UK)
    If you are interested look at www.bbfc.co.uk and then use the search facility to view database

    I'd buy this in a heartbeat (R1) if it comes out 16x9!

    I *refused* to get the existing 4x3 lbxed transfer on grounds of principle.

    Baz is amazing.

    It is a shame that the extra from the laser disc

    will not be carried over, just the commentary track;

    20 minutes of interesting location scouting and initial

    character blocking, all captured on camcorder breaking

    down a number of the film's key sequences.

    I sold off my laser disc, bur from what I can remember

    it was like watching Baz's home videos, very cool.

    I don't know how I missed pre-ordering this before. I scan DVDEmpire often and I didn't come across this title. Was this just recently added in the last few days? Either way, I am all over it. I didn't buy the first edition because of a lack of anamorphic enhancement and it was the only hold-up.
