Will Rogers HDTV work on Sony VLP-400Q? (1 Viewer)

I have the Sony VLP-400Q projector and am wondering if anyone has used Rogers HDTV cablebox with it. Will it work? The service tech at Rogers said it output 1080i, but I do not trust those guys to ever know what they are talking about. How would I hook this up, cosidering my DVD player is not progressive scan, but it has component video out, is it the same (colour coded)?

Output is 1080i only for HDTV, so your projector needs to be able to handle it.
