Season 3 DVD In Production

Season 3 is currently being planned out. Lion's Gate Films has set up the tentative date of October 25th, but has not given the word to any major DVD dealers to post it on their sites. As you may recall, Season 2 didn't even get posted onto Amazon.com until one month before its release. We'll keep you posted as things arise.
------------------

Gee...let's hope they don't screw this one up as much as season 2. Chances are we'll still get edited episodes. I don't think anything will change that.

I could be totally wrong here, but I don't think Lions Gate produces these sets; I think they're done by NBC Enterprises and Lions Gate just acts as a home video distributor.

Seas on2 was a disaster. Episodes out of order, one episode with cut dialogue. Extras which were announced and then mysteriously omitted from the final release. I think I'll stick with the R2 set.

julian...

There was dialogue cut from both releases. They've been splitting the 1 hour releases into 2 episodes which cuts a few minutes out of the episodes.

Also, the UK Season 3 had at least one episode that wasn't originally 1 hour cut.

This TV show has been treated HORRIBLY on DVD...both overseas and here.

I purchased W&G s.3 tonight and must say it is a definite improvement over the previous season releases! The menus are animated and there are blooper reels from season one, season two, and season three. There are some funny, funny scenes that they show. There is also the usual themed featurettes.

I've only watched one episode so far "Gypsies, Tramps, and Weed" (the first one with Cher). The audio and picture seem to be perfect....though I'm no DVD expert.

There is also an insert about the new album from W&G which says it's in stores now but where I checked they said it would be in stores next week.

Well I would like to know why the second parts of "Cheaters" and "Sons and Lovers" are not there.

Hey all,

As expected...Lions gate edited a few of the episodes for season 3 of Will and Grace...just like they did for Season 2. I expect the other seasons to follow in the same respect.

*sigh*

When will Lions Gate learn???

The day they go out of business.

Though I'm no fan of this show, I should remind those who are about the ALF debacle recently.

I've been complaining since season 2. No one has heard me.

The UK versions are cut as well.

No sale here. I haven't bought S2 either.

These studios need to buy a clue, desperately.

Wait..it gets better.

They take the 1 hour episodes and put the syndicated version of the episode split in two on the disc (which edits the episode).

THEN...they list "Cheaters (part one)" on there. "Cheaters" was originally a "super sized" episode but what they did was when it went to syndication, they actually made it two different episodes with about 10 minutes of extra footage that wasn't shown in the original airing. Instead, they chose to put the "cut" supersize episode on there even though the title "part one" would lead you to believe there is a part two.

Oh yeah...and the episodes are out of order again.

Great job.

Yikes, this is the first I've heard of this. Does anyone have a list of the cuts made from each set?

Well...good rule of thumb: if it was 1 hour when it originally aired, it's cut on the DVD.

The only time I've noticed a "regular" episode cut was one from season 3 or 4 where grace hires the guy that she fired at will's birthday party. The first Cher episode.

With all this talk of edited shows appearing on seasons 2 and 3... does anyone have a list of which scenes were cut from which episodes?

Sorry, master. Mongo go back to Regional DVD section and not dare to appear with the mighty R1ers.

However, there are some R1ers who have multiregion players for whom my information might have been useful.

Again...if it was originally an hour, they seem to be putting the half hour syndicated version on there which would mean editing out part of the episode. Not sure how they're handling the "super-sized episodes as there weren't many in s2 and s3. The one that was super-sized (Cheaters) is shown in it's super-sized form on this disc which ordinarily would be great except that when it was syndicated, they split it into two episodes and added about 10 minutes to the episode. So even though we're getting super-sized, we're getting edited.
R2 got the split episode.
