For those of you who may not have heard yet, today (May 30) outside of Portland a Black Hawk helicopter crashed while trying to rescue some mountain climbers. CNN and Fox have been showing the crash as it happened.

While at this moment the fate of those aboard is unknown do you guys think that it would be in poor taste to release the dvd of Black Hawk Down this soon to this kind of event?

I for one am counting the days to this release. I hope for a June 11th release but I have no problem waiting due to the circumstances.

In my opinion that is NO reason to postpone the DVD release of Black Hawk Down.

Yes, along with Ed Wood being postponed to 2010 because someone was hit by a frisbee and suffered a concussion.
:D
Come on...does the DVD world need to stop for ever disaster (small and big)? (I understand and agree with some 9-11 stuff, but this is just pointless)

It won't be postponed. I would hope that people can distinguish between a movie and real life and aren't so sensitive that they feel every instance of art imitating life be whitewashed.

The helicopter that crashed was actually a HH-60 Pave Hawk helicopter which is a moddified Black Hawk. So far most of the news has reported that only one of the five crew members is critically injured as you can see on the video of the crash he is thrown from the helicopter and then the helicopter rolls over him as it rolled down the steep snowy terrain. Hopefully the entire Pave Hawk crew as well as the rescued climbers will make a full recovery.

I'm glad to hear the support to go ahead and release the movie. I live here in Oklahoma about an hour from where the I-40 bridge fell. I had similar thoughts shortly after the news broke about that. I guess after 9-11 I just sort of think along those lines. (IE the rumors about the WTC being removed from several movies.) Thanks for the feedback.

Yeah, with that kind of logic they should pull Bridge On The River Kwai off the market becasue of the tragedy with the bridge collapse in Oklahoma!

This has all gone way to overboard with the polically correct crapola!

No, it wouldn't be delayed.
Apparently, all 3 on board the chopper are ok.
I was watching CNN this morning and while they were covering this story, in big bold letters it said Pave Hawk Down.

The Special Edition DVD is going to be released first on R2.
Which make ammends with the bare bones R3(Edited) and the R1 release.

I know of several European retailers who've had this title for a few days at least. So a delay would be out of the question. (and I agree with most others, why in the world should it be delayed?)

Luke, you reference "R3(edited)". What are the edits? This seems strange as the R3 disc is also coded for Region 1 which gives the impression it will be same version as the upcoming R1 release. Package art is also identical except for the region mark.

I'm still hoping they change the name of Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers because I can't think of anything "twinish" without convulsing...
Maybe they should have also delayed the theatrical release of Unfaithful because I've always wanted to fuck Diane Lane.

How so? Nothing's been delayed...
I'm talking about this type of attitude in general. To even think it should be delayed for this reason is rediculous!

And all these DVD's coming out that they are going to take out the twin towers because they wouldn't be there in the future now is just as ignorant! Are we now going to start re-writing films because one person may be dusturbed to see something in a film tha makes them uncomfortable? Polically Incorrect people for the most part tend to be biggeted, hateful people who always see the worst in a statement, scene in a film etc... It just goes to show what a negative, hateful frame of mind these people have to always jump to a negative thought!

And the second paragraph has nothing to do with the original poster but people who for example think the TV show ALF was about insest! What kind of a warped mind could even begin to get that from watching ALF? Or the idiots who complained about The Phantom Menace because the Trade Federation characters had a oriental accent, yet the most evil two of the characters were white! I guess only white accented people can play bad/evil characters now! Geeeeez talk about a bigget!
