Will and Grace has gone into syndication - any chance for this series from warners?
I doubt it, Joe. The series is so popular that I'm sure that they'll want to milk syndication money as long as possible. The minute the series is available on video, its value as a syndicated property drops.
If you're one of those that can cope with PAL Region 2 discs, then season 1 is already out here. - here is a link to the play.com page if it helps.
Joe, good to see you again
At this point I have to believe that everything has a chance. Could comeone answer the question of just how much money the studio could make in syndication versus what they could make season by season through dvd. Even the average dvd consumer I have to believe to starting to put an eye towards season sets for shows that they love. At what point will putting the seasons out on dvd be MORE money than syndication? God knows that for me it's not even a choice. I've gotten to the point where I don't even want to watch some of my favorite shows, just wait for whenever they find their way to dvd. Better sound, picture, no comercials, I watch them when I want, I can watch them in ORDER, etc etc. The times just might be a changin.
Will & Grace is starting it's 5th season this year. The 2nd show of the new season, which airs this coming Thursday, is the 100th episode.
100 episodes ÷ 4 seasons = 25 shows/season. Since there are usually 24-26 shows in each season these days, 4 seasons will tend to do it.
As for a DVD, I've said it before: everything is fair game and all popular shows (whether in terms of ratings or "cult status") will probably hit home video sooner or later. It might be later due to legal issues making things complicated, but I would just sit back and wait for an actual announcement.
Good to see you again, Joe. I'm glad you're feeling better!
I have already seen this on DVD here!
