Will a RPTV look just as good in the dark as a direct view set?

I will be watching this set in a dark room most of the time and was wondering if the RPTV will look just as good or better than a direct view set in a very dim to dark room.

In my book, it will look better. A good quality calibrated RPTV presents a much more film-like picture than a direct view.

I agree with Max. A RPTV isn't as limited in horizontal resolution as a direct-view set is.

A good anamorphic dvd on a decently adjusted widescreen HD-ready set in a dimly lit room is about as close to the experience of watching a projected film image as you're gonna get. Detail, color subtlety, even the grain of the original film will be readily apparent.
