I was just browsing a new issue list, and see that on the same day the much anticipated DVD of The DAY the EARTH STOOD STILL is to be released, a newly recorded version of Bernard Hermann's score will also be released, on CD!

Two Theremins, three organs, harps, string trio, guitar, tubas, etc. Conducted by Joel McNeely. A definite must for me :)

"The Day The Earth Stood Still" is a great movie. I have it on VHS, and the soundtrack is in stereo--and it was made in 1951! This is one of the first sci-fi films that was serious & didn't have guys in rubber monster suits running around abducting scantily-clad women.

(some of the "reviewers" on this site are WAY too analytical with movies, so take their opinion with a grain of salt.)

This is a dvd I will buy.
