In this month's issue of WR I saw an offer for"The Ultimate DTS Widescreen DVD Movie Guide" and was shocked when I saw that the price including shipping was only $4.95.Here is a rundown of what it contains:
    .18 movie trailers
.68 DVD movies and music video summaries
.DVD-Rom compatible with 225 search criteria which you can use to search for movies with DTS soundtracks.
.Instant "BUY It" and "Rent It" connections make shopping on the net for movies easier.
This is going to be a great demo disc for showing off your home theater as well as the benefits of DTS soundtracks. And at $4.95 it's a definite must buy.Supplies are limited so hurry before they run out. Here is the phone number(1-888-977-7827) or you can go to their website at widescreenreview.com and order there also.Enjoy.

    Are the trailers in DTS?
Or are they just trailers of movies that are available in DTS?

Unbelivable, I just got home from a local HT store and they were selling it for $39.95 or $49.95. How ever way more than $4.95.

Uh oh... the gig is up for that Home Theater Stroe near Torrance. They must have horded the free, yes, free DTS discs from CES in January.

Widescreen Review is releasing TWO different DVD discs:
    1) The Ultimate DTS Widscreen DVD Movie Guide. Available through the magazine for $5 (including shipping).
    2) The Allsop/Widescreen Review Home Theater Optimizer DVD. Will retail for $40 or thereabouts.
I strongly suspect the disc seen at the HT store in Torrance is the later.

The Allsop/WSR home theatre setup/DVD lens cleaner won't be available until the CEDIA EXPO next month. It is intended to be a very simple tutorial and tests for A/V systems. It also includes a 225-field, searchable database of over 2200 DVD reviews, and movie trailers in 5.1.
    Best regards,
    Perry

I have this DVD and am not at all impressed with it! The audio quality is standard DTS..but the video portion is P O O R! Some of the trailers are in 16:9 and some are shown in 4:3 ratios. There should be some consistentcy in the ratios...either all 4:3 or anamorphic. I bought this DVD to use as a demo...but now it just sits and collects dust! I suggest saving your money and purchasing an ACTUAL DTS demo Platinum DVD fom the folks at WWW.DTSONLINE.COM

I just received the WSR dts demo disc and it really isn't that bad for only $4.95.Although I would have put some better movie trailers in there to really show the dts sound a little more.I think JP The Lost World trailer was easily the best.Excellent use of the entire surround field and 100 times better than the one on the JP dvd.
Like I said it's not the best demo disc but not the worst either. For the money it will go nicely next to my Total Movie Magazine discs.By the way,it came in a nice amaray keep case which I was very happy to see. [IMG]

I recieved mine last week and put it in my PS2. After watching the trailers -- I wasn't too impressed. But for $4.95, you can't go wrong. I guess, I had high expectation especially coming from a 'technical' magazine as Widescreen Review. I enjoy reading their reviews and articles at my local Barnes and Noble. I looked through the dvd-rom section -- it wasn't too bad either. It was pretty easy to navigate.

I got mine last week as well. I ordered around the end of August. It's a pretty good disc for the price paid. Under $10CAD shipped.
One thing of interest ... when I first loaded the disk, you select if you want DTS5.1 or DD2.0, after this screen it takes you to the main menu. When I first played through the trailers, I was a not impressed at all, until I realized it defaulted to DD2.0. MAKE SURE your change the sound back to DTS5.1
BTW, my player is Panasonic DVD-RV30
