Why won't the "progressive scan" indicator light come on? (1 Viewer)

Just received my Tosh 40H80 and hooked up my JVC XV-S65GD with AR componet cables.
With the TV in Full, and the player set to 16x9, and progressive switched to "auto" and "film", I still can't get the progressive scan light to light up on the front of the dvd player (green for film, red for vid). What gives?

Push the VFP button on your remote. That is the progressive scan button.

ah, you have to HOLD the button....
