I just got my powered sub working and hooked it up. There is a VERY audible low "hhhhmmmmmm" interference sound. I have all my electronics pluged into a Monster power surge protector. But any idea what is casuing this interference in my sub?

One typical answer for this is your cable television line isn't well grounded. To test this, disconnect it from the system; if the hum disappears, that's it.

To correct, some folks just put a "cheater" plug (the 3 prong to 2 prong converter) on their subs power cord. There is a "debatable" risk to this in that your sub is now not grounded. I did it but YMMV. Note that when I switched to an SVS sub, it doesn't have a 3 pronged cord.

Other people have corrected this with 2 identical Radio Shack signal transformers hooked together. A search on "hum" hopefully will turn these up. Others have corrected with "black boxes".

But first verify if the hum is the CATV hookup.
