Why not fold fabric over top and bottom in a sonotube? (1 Viewer)

I believe I have read that it is not recommended to fold the fabric that covers a sonotube over the top and bottom of the tube so that the endcaps keep them in place. I was thinking if I were to use 1.5 inch endcaps and only fold about half an inch of fabric inside on the top and bottom, wouldnt this hold the fabric in place and create a good seal (after caulking)?

As long as you get a tight fit of the endcap to the tube, and caulk it real well, I can't see any other problems with what you propose, though it may be harder to implement then described.

I guess it depends as to how thick the fabric is as to wether or not you get a good seal. I'm planning to try this and find out myself when I build mine.
