Why is the picture so bad on my RP56? (1 Viewer)

So after all the recommendations here I figured I'd give the Panasonic a whirl after the demise of my Sony. But after hooking it up, the picture is awful---there's a fine vertical ribbing in the picture no matter what disc I put in. It's like everyone is corduroy. I've messed around in the menu but don't see anything that seems to help this.

Defective? Or am I doing something wrong? Anyone run across this on their RP56?

I'm using progressive, component out into a Toshiba 65H80 16:9 set.

If this is the first time you've pumped 480p into your TV, it could be either the DVD player or the TV itself. Here's hoping it isn't the later!

The exchanged one is much better, but the ribbing is still visible in bright sequences. I've run progressive into the set before on 2 different players using the same cables so that's not the problem.
So I'm dumping this and getting something that has a good picture. This player is crap.
