Why is DTS Babe Discontinued according to Image Entertainment?

If it is discountinued, then why isn't it on sale?

I would like to get it for the kids.

    Where is the best price?

    Thanks,

    EBC

I have the great letterbox DTS LaserDisc. I'd recommend getting the current "regular" DVD release of this delighful movie. Better that than nothing.

I'm guessing because there are very few people who are into both DTS and Pan and Scan.

Did the DTS-encoded Babe DVD have fewer special features than the non-DTS Babe? (This was common with many DVD's available w/ or w/out DTS).
I speculate that the DTS was dropped to fit more special features onto the disc. J6P wants quantity of features, not quality of product for his entertainment.

I hope they come out with a better DVD representation of this beloved movie. I gave up meat for a year & a half after watching Babe. (Seriously) [IMG]

This is one title where a Universal Ultimate Edition is warranted as long as they give us an OAR presentation. Neither of the original versions (DTS or DD) could be considered an SE, so hopefully this is the plan behind Universal's discontinuation.

I'm always happy to see a non-OAR release get shelved. It can only be a good thing. Let's hope for a 16x9 WS SE.

If this is re-released a third time as P&S only then I will be surprised.

I'd love to buy Babe on DVD. Unfortunately, since it was never released OAR, I haven't.
The discontinuation of this disc is irrelevant as far as I'm concerned. It's not OAR, so it's nothing more than a coaster. [IMG]

    This is a real problem.
I didn't notice that the Babe DTS DVD is P&S.
If Universal does a new Babe, it may not be DTS and if
it is DTS, it will most likely be half bit rate DTS.
I would pick up the DTS P&S for the kids if it was dirt cheap,
but the only copies still carried on web sites still list the full price?
    Something to think about.

For people with a multiregion player:
The UK version of this title (and Babe: Pig In The City) is OAR and 16:9 enhanced, but doesn't have a DTS track. It isn't that expensive; you can get it at Bensons World for GBP 9.99 including worldwide shipping.
I own it, but if a nice S.E. would come out, I would definitively 'upgrade'.

Universal really is overdue on releasing a proper 1.85:1 16x9 disc of Babe.

The film is a combination of possible 1.85:1 hard-matte (CGI effect shots) and 1.33:1 for non-CGI scenes. With all the CGI in the film, I expect a lot of cropping had to be done to fit the picture into 1.33:1.

I think an Ultimate Edition is in order for Babe. I'll definately buy it.

If I could find it, I would get the DTS WS LD.

For now, I will just hold.

I did put an order in at DVDExpress for the WS Paulie full DTS version, the kids & I should be happy with that one.
