    Thanks,

I have never seen it aswell i don't have HBO. I will be buying it sight unseen on 2/4 though. Too many people have called this the best show/best written in television history for me to pass it up.

It's pretty raw (meaning it doesn't pull any punches), but there is a lot of good character-focused writing, and the acting is top-notch. Plus, the use of death (as people die and their bodies show up at the Fisher and Sons funeral home) to find meaning in life is a long-running theme of the show.

It's one of the most "real" shows on TV. Patrick summed it up nicely.[IMG]

Excellent, top-notch acting, high production values, good writing, effortless wit, non-judgemental social commentary, nothing dumbed down.. I could go on and on, but in two words, "no brainer"!

I like it because it manages to be very funny while always being serious. It treats the matter of death very differently from all other shows on TV, and it's not another genre drama.

Its great because its very long on two things that 99.9 percent of TV is very short on:

    1. Characters

    2. Writing

While the writing is better than 90% of TV, it is the acting that separates this show from most of the competition. Every one of the ongoing characters is just suburb. It is so good that we have no brpoblem believing that these quite improbable characters in improbable situations are real people dealing with real problems.

I am less enthused about the writing, as I think that it would not work at all with a less talented cast. Still, it may be that the cast allows the writers the freedom to take major chances.

Six Feet Under **may** be the best thing on TV now. I have found though that TV is going through a bit of a Rennaissance as of late.

Alan Ball has created/written some of the best, most fleshed out characters ever to hit the small screen. The stories are excellent, and the characters are real. I would encourage ANYONE to make the blind $100 purchase. It would even be worth your while to subscribe to HBO & tape season 2 so you can be caught up by season 3.

Speaking of the characters, I wonder if the most "out there" character (IMO at least), Brenda, is coming back for season 3? It didn't seem so at the end of last season, but I really hope she is.

Well, Rachel Griffiths is part of the group shot used for the promos; so her return is a good bet.

Also in the group shot: Lili Taylor.

I guess Im in the minority here, but I never really liked the show. I think the characters are boring, self centered and uninteresting.

The only person I somewhat like is Federico Diaz(played by Freddy Rodriguez)

I just dont find it interesting and thinks its very overrated. It tries too hard.

catching it was blind luck actually. I don't have HBO, and while visiting my dad, they did the marathon and ran episodes 1-4 (when the show first began).

By the end of episode 4, I didn't want to have to go home that sunday (because I wouldn't see episode 5)

Now my dad tapes them each week, and we watch them together.

I think it's a very good show, and I hope it remains good through the end.

I loved it but I did miss season 2. Anybody have news on when they will rerun that in some sort of marathon or something. The reruns I've seen lately are all S1.
