Apart from legal issues, don't forget the marketing data that is garnered by getting a person's age.

Someone told me that this is mainly because they don't want kids entering 'contests' designed for adults, but I think that's BS too because most contests give you that "Make sure you are 18 before entering" line.

And if there's a legal issue with kids viewing beer sites, then what are the legal issue with kids being able to turn on TV and see beer commercials?

What's the difference?
