Why do I only get 2 and 16 colour mode? (1 Viewer)

I recently formatted my hard drive due to a problem with my internet. I was able to install everything again alright, even though I had some problems. But now in my display settings I only get the option of having 2 or 16 colours. How can I fix this? Before it worked fine, and whenever the windows 98 logo appears when I start my computer it looks PERFECTLY fine, but every other picture or webpage I try to view in windows is all screwed up due to the colours.

Any help would be appreciated...

You probably need to reinstall your video card driver.

The windows spash logo is only 16 color, which is why it displays "correctly" (designed to work with minimal display devices).

If you go to display properties (right click on the desktop, select properties, click settings tab) and you only have the option of 16 color, or 256 color listed in the pulldown- then this is because your video card has no driver installed.
