Why do I find the picture qualitys on all HDTVs in stores to be atrocious? (1 Viewer)

Our family is currently looking to purchase a large (55" or larger) digital RPTV to replace our old 53" Sony RPTV. I see a HDTV signal in BestBuy and I do not find it good at all. Why is this? I tried to calibrate a set as good as I can but it still sucked. In my opinion my DVD's now look much better on a 97 model Sony RPTV than this supposed HDTV signal does on a 65" Toshiba HDTV.

greetings

Add to that a signal that has been split how many hundred times. And showroom lighting and the fact that people attribute bright pictures with good pictures.

I don't think it helps that they're on all day in torch mode.
