why can't i get DD or DTS to work on my new ES receiver (1 Viewer)

i just got my new system which is a sony str-da1es receiver which is capable of DD and DTS and is matched with some good cambridge soundworks speakers and for the meantime a PS2 conected with a optical cable, when i watch dvd's all i can get to work is DD logic not DD or DTS, is the PS2 not capable of DD or DTS, I've tried many things with the receiver and when i set it to auto decode it usually just goes to stereo mode and i'll swithch it to logic mode, whats the deal

you probably didn't turn on dd and dts in the dvd-menu of the ps2. To do that:

1. Stick in a dvd
2. Hit the select button while a movie is playing
3. Go to the setup icon that looks like a toolchest
4. Then go to the audio speaker icon and then turn on Dolby Digital and DTS.

That should fix everything, also make sure you have the optical output turnedon, but it sounds like you've alreadey done that.

oh hell thank you so so very much i finally got it working, i had looked at the menu you can get to where you access saved games and such but didn't find that menu, dolby digital is so much better than that crappy logic bs
