The amazon listing also asserts the bluray set will have 9 discs.

In comparison, the dvd variant is purportedly 21 discs.

It seems like a drastic difference, if these disc counts are remotely accurate.
I’ve seen reports of 16 discs for the BD. That makes sense as a lot of the shows are 1 hour long.

More generally, I have to wonder if Warner has made new HD (or higher) resolution transfers for the entire superfriends series. (I'm not currently subscribed to any Warner/HBO/DC streaming services).

Recently I got in the mail, the blurays of "Adventures of Batman" series from the late-1960s and the "New Adventures of Batman" from 1977. Watching through them, I noticed the video looked "too perfect" in the sense that there is hardly any noisy looking "grain" in the background. If I didn't know any better, it looks like newer transfers with DNR applied extensively.

I have the older "New Adventures of Batman" dvd set released back in 2007, where the second disc was an annoying double-sided flipper disc. (I found it in a local $5 dumpbin around a decade ago or so). I remember the video quality was not particularly impressive, where it looks like it might have been from an older syndication transfer from the 1990s or earlier. The few superfriends dvd sets I found in dump bins around a decade ago, also looked like crappy 1990s era (or earlier) NTSC quality video.

Nevertheless, I have to wonder if both the upcoming superfriends complete series dvd and bluray sets will be remastered using any possible newer HD transfers (with or without DNR). It would be a complete washout if the dvd variant is just a straight lazy repackaging of the old superfriends dvd discs from the disparate mid-2000s to early/mid-2010s releases.

The MovieZyng listing asserts the bluray set is a 16 disc set.

I don't know much about MovieZyng, other than it shows up frequently on Allied Vaughn's website as a "case study" of some type. (ie. Does Allied Vaughn have any direct ownership stake in the MovieZyng retail website business ? )

I think I heard that the Super Friends and other WB animated content were remastered a few years back for airing on the HBO streaming platform. But not having HBO myself, I am not certain.

Doing some googling, it appears there exists an HD restoration of the late 1960s Aquaman cartoon which appeared previously on an HBO streaming service.

The amazon listing asserts it is an "Allied Vaughn" release, which is highly suggestive it is a Warner Archive MOD pressed bluray release.

Just noticed that the same switcheroo is also noticeable on the upcoming Young Sheldon Complete Series set where the Blu-Ray set will be handled by Allied Vaughn, while the DVD set will be handled by WHV directly.

Remember a similar thing happening with Longmire a couple of years back, when WAC were the ones who put it out on Blu and not WHV.

I too feel a tad nostalgic for this, but doubt I'll wanna pony up for the set on discs. Maybe if/when it becomes available on Vudu/FaH at a good discounted price...

Hmm.. $107. Not unreasonable given the amount of content. Still, maybe there'll be a good sale come Christmas time.

9 discs seems like not too many for about.. 56 hours of content?

Today is the release day. Does anyone have their set yet? My Amazon pre-order has apparently been delayed after initially saying it was arriving today. Same thing happened a couple weeks ago with WBA’s The Alaskans, which showed up a week late.

I’d very much like to see a review. I’ve been waiting to place an order based on people’s thoughts.

I'd also love to see a review, although I'm almost guaranteed to buy it unless there's some huge flaw.
