Breaking news from space! The bad: An intrepid captain and his men have landed on a planet where males are outlawed. The good: Some women there are eager to break the law! Queen of Outer Space is a milestone of movie camp. Eric Fleming plays the granite-jawed leader who shares with his crew the crime of maleness. That’s just the start of their troubles. The man-hating Venusian Queen (Laurie Mitchell) aims to destroy Earth once a Beta Disintegrator is operational. But a gossamer-gowned scientist (Zsa Zsa Gabor) and her curvy cohorts eye the men, and they like what they see. This bijou bauble has sets, costumes and effects from Flight to Mars, Forbidden Planet and World Without End. Have fun spotting them. Botchino!

Oh finally I can retire my DVD to its place in a replacement 2 disc Blu case.

Among other (curvy) things, it will be interesting to see how a HD Blu renders the beta disintegrator beam special effect.

Now I’ll have to hit up the folks at MST3K/Rifftrax for a accompanying riff track.

I wonder how the Jim Wynorski / Kelli Maroney remake is coming along?

As boring as a drill bit now, but still entertaining in a I-grew-up-watching-this-on-Channel-9 sort of way.

Review at dvdbeaver.com I don't see much an improvement from the DVD but, his screen captures are not as good as caps-a-holic.

Brad here. Did get to partially view my new Blu-Ray Of QOOS ( first half or so) My conclusion, better than the DVD but not by much. I was a tad disappointed in the Blu-Ray rendition of the Outer Space special effects scenes. It’s as if they stopped them down to DVD resolution (with a blue push) to prevent the viewer from seeing how those hokey effects were being produced.

    Anyone else notice this?

Anyway I’ll do a side by side comparison with the DVD once I get a chance.

dvdbeaver has a comparison to the DVD. Not much of a difference. The faces on the Blu-ray look a little stretched to me.

After seeing that review, I'm keeping my DVD. No reason to double dip.

I actually would recommend a Blu Upgrade from DVD but only if you’re a fan of this film and of hokey classic sci-Fi flicks in general. Otherwise keep your DVD.

In fact if you upgrade from the DVD, I recommend you keep the DVD and put both discs into a two-disc Blu case & bring over the Blu cover art.

On caps-a-holic the Blu-ray is cropped and stretched compared to the DVD.
