That is a gorgeous looking steelbook. I might consider picking that up and using the Blu-ray inside it even though I don't need the 4K disc. At a minimum, I will get the Blu-ray.

Best Buy has the steelbook up for pre-order now, but it is only available for shipping.

I want it, but I'm going to hold off for a bit and see if they offer an option to pre-order for store pickup instead. They usually do that -- I have pre-ordered several steelbooks from the website and marked them for in-store pickup in the past -- so I'm not entirely sure why that option is not available for this particular title yet.

Do we have any confirmed information about which releases (if any) will have the expanded IMAX aspect ratio?

If the preorder now for shipping, you should be able to change later to pickup when (if) that option becomes available.

Thanks. Now the steelbook just says "Coming Soon" and they are no longer accepting orders. So I'm not sure what's going on there. I know it will be a popular title, but it seems unlikely that the entire run of steelbooks already sold out of pre-orders. I guess we'll see what happens.

If I get the steelbook, great. If I don't, I'll end up with the standard Blu-ray release and that's fine too.

Not that I know of. Villeneuve's Blade Runner 2049 did not retain the IMAX aspect ratio on its Blu-ray release. I didn't watch Dune when it was on HBO Max because I went to the theater instead, but I heard it was in scope there as well. Anyone who did watch it at home already can correct me if I'm wrong. Based on all this, I am not expecting the Blu-ray release Dune to be anything other than scope. But I don't think WB has actually said anything about this, so I could be wrong.

Since Disney + put the IMAX versions of the Marvel movies up, I'd bet that HBO Max will copy the idea and all IMAX Warner movies will now be exclusive to HBO Max (and I'd guess that Disney will do the same with future releases of their IMAX movies too). Gotta drive those subscriptions.
