I called this morning, and unless the customer service representative was joking with me, Warners will indeed add the two cartoons back, and will make an announcement about it in a few weeks...

What about the modified "His Mouse Friday" which was somewhat mentioned on the Amazon site?

That's an interesting development. If the reviews confirm that the collection is complete and uncut, I'll definately buy it.

I hope it's true. Thanks for checking on this and being brave enough to call customer service. They would be better off making an announcement sooner than later because the set is scheduled for a street date of June 11th.

I am the publicist on this title and this information is inaccurate. Sorry for any misunderstanding.

I can confirm that MHuf is who she says she is. I notified her of this thread, asking her if the information was correct.

Then that's just disappointing. Honestly, the removal and denial of these shorts from Golden Collection Volume 2 is more offensive than the shorts themselves. Check out this image I made in protest:

Where is one of my favourite T&J Cartoons "Downhearted Duckling"? Surely it's not one of the censored ones. My kids loved watching this cartoon when they were growing up. [IMG]

CDCB...that pic was AWESOME.... It's a shame that "His Mouse Friday" is getting a pass and that should be the most offensive of the bunch.

Thanks for letting us know. For what it's worth, I'm sure many here (and elsewhere) would be more understanding if that information were accurate. ;) I can see why Warner would be concerned with material that may offend certain consumers, but I'd rather make that decision for myself than have it be made for me. Just sayin'

The question is, will His Mouse Friday be uncensored? And glad you like the pic, DaveK!

Well, we know Warner isn't above the Silent Treatment, when they can get away with it-- In the Jonny Quest: Classic boxset, Race Bannon shouting out a particularly (but characteristically) un-PC sentiment towards South American jungle natives somehow mysteriously disappeared from the audio...But then, the H-B boxsets didn't have the Whoopi Goldberg disclaimer that these were all for the collectors. (I still stand by my theory that Warner censors Tom & Jerry because they think they have few enough fans that they can "get away with it", where they already know for a fact enough toon fans exist to personally kick the crap out of them if they tried it with Bugs Bunny. ;) )

CDCB your pic is right on! Seriously I can't fathom why WB would change their tune on the second volume when the un-PC cartoons on Volume 1 have already been released. Here's hoping some good news will come and Volume 2 will contain both cartoons along with everything else unaltered.

Sounds great, but I'll believe it when I see it. At this point, a heavy dose of skepticism is required: Warner has gone out of its way to even brag about the cartoons being omitted. (UPDATE: I just noticed further down the thread that my skepticism was already borne out... this was a false alarm. Gee, thanks, Warner.)

I have been following this thread very closely.
I am not necessarily a Tom & Jerry fan. I have no personal
interest in purchasing this boxed set.
However, as a collector, I sympathize greatly with the fans
who are getting shorted with content.
I don't understand why Warner feels its necessary to censor certain
cartoons. I would have hoped that these collections would be properly
preserved on Blu-ray -- warts and all. Yes, its unfortunate that there
was racism depicted in cartoons, but its a part of our history that we
should be preserving rather than trying to rewrite.
These Tom & Jerry sets are squarely aimed at collectors. I personally
cannot see kids and teens buying expensive cartoon sets of characters
they probably don't even know. It would have been far easier for Warner
to slap a sticker across the front of the box warning of the content within
rather than deciding that certain cartoons don't exist anymore.
I am also rather shocked to see Christian's picture in post #69 that
clearly shows that even when the studio is attempting to remove any
racist content, there is still quite a bit of it being included.
There are always going to be a minority of people that are going to
protest these kind of releases that include racist references. However, in
most cases, the minority becomes the vocal majority and they could easily
be silenced if the studios took a little bit of responsibility of including a
disclaimer that introduces these cartoons and explains the historical significances
    behind them.
I just wish one studio had the balls to take a stand and say, "You know what?
this is history that we recognize is wrong, but we are going to preserve it for the
fans." Cabin Fever had the right idea when they released The Little Rascals,
complete with racist shorts, then included Leonard Maltin on the set to put
    the content into proper perspective.
Instead of learning from the mistakes made in these cartoons and perhaps
teaching our children not to repeat them, the studios decide just to erase history
altogether. This is the reason why we'll never see Song of the South released
to Blu-ray which is even a bigger travesty.
