Early last year Columbia Pictures re released a 1982 film classic.,.. ANNIE . Loaded with features and DTS sound.
    But no widescreen.. !!

This latest DVD was the new special edition over its predecessor ,which was released years before in a wide screen format. (2.35:1 panavision lens)
The older version was not 16 by 9 anamorphic nor was it 5.1 sound.., only dolby stereo .
The new version is 16 by 9 anamorphic and DTS..features galore.. but 1.33:1 ..??
May we expect this to be changed one day to widescreen??
if so when., if not why not??
I have already heard that Columbia rereleases it children titles to full screen only,,, But hey.. Annie ?
that is for all generations on their Plasma sets....

If you have region-free a player, get the Japanese version. It is the correct ratio and 5.1 sound, and with all the features of the R1 "Special" Edition (which, except for the 12-minute featurette 'My Hollywood Adventure w/Aileen Quinn', I was unimpressed with, considering what supplemental material already exists).

The British non-SE disc had an isolated music score, for pete's sake!

Seriously, when are we gonna get a "Special" Edition of Oliver!, a freakin' BEST PICTURE winner, in P&S with a music video of the Jay-Z rap that sampled the cast album?
