James Gandolfini- ;)

j/k

Call me crazy but I think Matthew Broderick would make a good bond, or perhaps Russell Crowe

> How about Rupert Everett as a kind of gay Bond?

Isn't he supposed to be doing a movie where he plays a gay Bond-like character?

There are those of you who will remember that "The Living Daylights" was originally written for Pierce Brosnan, but when NBC caught wind, they renewed the contract on "Remington Steele."

Dalton was in two films, but after 1989, there was a long hiatus.

As they worked on developing a new Bond film, Cubby Broccoli wanted to get Mel Gibson because he was the hot star at the time and they wanted a big opening. Instead, they ended up going back to Brosnan and using the extra money (that would have been used to play Gibson) to increase the production value of the movie.

Recently, as a die-hard Bond fan, I have been thinking about a future Bond...

Jeremy Northam -- he played a matinee movie idol in "Gosford Park." He has the accent and he has the look of 007. He can do the suave and debonair thing, and also get rough and tumble.

He will likely be the next 007. ;)

Casino Royale would be cool as the next film, but maybe they don't have the rights to film it. They have the rights to sell the property on Home Video/DVD if I understand it right.

I think a final Brosnan film has to be a On Her Majesty's Secret Service re-do. But this time he kills Blofeld, marries the girl and she lives, and they fly off to Ireland and end the series.

I like Hugh Jackman best of all I've heard so far.

Jeremy Northam would be good as well, though I haven't seem him do action before, to my recollection.

Overall, I've been very pleased with Brosnan (less so the movies). I think he's clearly the second best Bond next to The Man.
