Who runs there back surrounds facing ceiling?

    My sectional is about 1.5' from rear wall. This weekend I will be connecting my JBL E10's and mounting them to the side walls.
    I have JBL N24's that I am going to use on stands for rear surrounds. Sicne their is not much room behind my seating position, I am thinking of having them firing up towards the ceiling.
    I know some here have reco'd that, so I would like to hear some more opinions of those that do it, how you mounted your speakers (or what they are sitting on, how high off the floor ( I was thinking of having them just below the top edge of my sectional-just out of sight when looking straight on).

    Opinions on your findings when firing them forward vs ceiling appreciated, especially if your seating config is similiar to mine.

    I also have the option of mounting my E10s, directly on rear wall about 4-6' apart and using the N24's on stands off to the sides, but have not made up my mind yet.

    Receiver is a pio 811 which does 6.1, but has connections for L/R center surrounds.

    I'd do it.

    However, try it, and if it sounds funky, just scrap that channel.

    Turning that channel down would certainly help.

    Sorry - fire towards the ceiling or something not directly at you.

    If it works, fine, if not, forget it.

    I had my surround backs firing up to the ceiling in my old room. It actually made a pretty nice effect.

    Try it. You might like it.

    I had the same dilemma as you with my sofa 1 ft away from the back wall. At first I had my back surrounds high on the back wall pointing downwards but still over my head. Then I tried putting them on the sofa table (behind the sofa) facing the ceiling. It made a 100% difference - facing the ceiling made the surround effect come alive much more. YMMV..
